A free sale and commerce certificate provide assurance to the importing country on the status and quality of goods being imported which is issued by the national regulatory authority of the exporting country. It is issued for an exporter who is exporting the products or any other item which is not restricted or prohibited for export and that the product which is exported is freely sold in the country but without any indication that the product is evaluated for safety and is registered for use in the country.

Free Sale and Commerce Certificate may be issued for exports as mentioned:

For items which are not covered under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and which have usage for medical related and surgical purposes and are not prohibited for export.

The Free Sale and Commerce Certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of issuance of the certificate by concerned authority.

Documents required:
Importer Exporter Code, Registration-cum-Membership certificate, Digital Signature certificate, Letter of the concerned authority demanding certificate / export order, valid manufacturing license, product permission letters from the concerned department.

Benefits:
i. A Free Sale and Commerce certificate is a concrete proof that the manufacturer contains a valid manufacturing license,
ii. Importing countries wants to maintain strict safety and security, hence they wont allow the use of product that export products are authorized to be used in the country of origin,
iii. Authentication of the fact that the product in question comply with Good manufacturing practice guidelines of International Trade.

Any Modification required in Free Sale and Commerce Certificate cannot be done once the certificate is issued by concerned authority.
