What is CHIMS?

CHIMS stands for “Chip Import Monitoring System” instituted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India to provide the information about the imports to India.

The purpose of this system is to provide statistical data on imports entering into India prior to arrival.

Who is required to get CHIMS License?

Any Business / Entrepreneur who are Importing Products covered under the Licensing program is required get the CHIMS License for concerned imports.

CHIMS License Registration Number is valid for a period of 75 days from the date of issuance.

Importers need to enter the CHIMS Registration Number and License expiry date of in the Bill of Entry to enable Customs for clearance of consignment form the ports.
