Export Policy of Broken Rice (ITC(HS) Code 1006 40 00) Amended – Now Free for Export

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued Notification No. 61/2024-25, dated 7th March 2025, revising the export policy of Broken Rice (ITC(HS) Code 1006 40 00) from ‘Prohibited’ to ‘Free’ with immediate effect. This amendment now allows exporters to trade broken rice internationally without restrictions.

  • No Export Restrictions: Businesses can now export broken rice freely without requiring special government approvals.
  • Boost to Rice Trade: This change supports India’s agriculture and rice export sector, increasing global market opportunities.
  • Compliance Requirements: While exports are free, traders must follow any existing DGFT regulations and destination country import norms.

This update aligns with India’s foreign trade policy to facilitate smooth exports while maintaining domestic supply balance. It aims to enhance India’s global trade presence and encourage ease of doing business in the agriculture sector.
